MyFonts, a subsidiary of Bitstream Inc, offers over 30,000 fonts from 242 foundries worldwide. MyFonts, established in 1999, has collaborated with groups such as URW ++, Linotype, Typodermic, Font Bureau and Scriptorium to offer an extensive collection.

They provide fonts in OpenType, TrueType and PostScript formats and support a search function that outperforms most services. Although MyFonts provides access to a massive collection and useful tools, it falls behind the top three services because they only offer customer support by email.

Ease of Use:  

This site is easy to navigate through; however, you have to click 'more' on the home page to view all options including the search feature.

Feature Set:  

MyFonts offers fonts in all of the popular formats and can be purchased individually or in CD collections from such foundries as Elsner+Flake, Linotype, P22 and Storm. Collections are also available in many non-English language fonts.

MyFonts supports searches by keyword, font name, foundry or designer name. There is also a section titled "What's New" that highlights new fonts, so you can see right away the newest fonts available without having to go through the search process.

Ease of Download:  

MyFonts supports a quick and error free download process.

Available Tools:  

MyFonts offers a few organization tools such as font creation, font management and font conversion. However, the free font management tool is only available for Macintosh.

Help/Support:  

They only offer customer and technical support through email or you can send them a letter via mail. However, on their website they claim that over half of all email requests are answered within 30 minutes, anytime of the day, because they have team members located across nine time zones. Our email inquires were answered in a timely manner.

They also post a FAQ section and publish 'news' to keep clients informed.

Summary:  

MyFont offers an amazing collection of fonts from some exclusive foundries and useful tools for font management. Unlike many services, they display their fonts plain as well as with graphics and color to give clients an idea of how that particular font could be used. Their prices are reasonable, some of their fonts in the 'starlet' section are offered for as little as $10.

The only area that comes up a bit short is in the area of customer/technical support; however, they do respond to their emails quickly, so they are definitely a service worth looking into for your next font purchase.
